Connectus Business Solutions launches free “Evolve AI” workshops to help SMEs become AI‑ready and resilient

Tools & Resources

Connectus Business Solutions has announced the launch of a major new series of free workshops designed to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) become “AI ready and resilient.”

In partnership with Doncaster-based Automated Analytics, the leading business managed services provider has created a strategically designed programme that offers real-world understanding and practical steps towards AI adoption.

Simplifying AI for business leaders
Tailored for business owners and decision-makers, the workshops will break down complex AI technologies into clear, actionable next steps. They will address key sector-specific challenges such as cost, skills gaps, job displacement, and regulatory uncertainty.

The free sessions will run throughout the second half of 2025 across the North of England and the Midlands, starting at the home of the Doncaster Knights, Castle Park, on 18 September 2025.

Participants will receive post-workshop support and resources to help them continue their AI journey. Registration is now open via the Connectus website.

A pivotal moment for SMEs
The launch comes at a critical time as AI reshapes the business landscape. UK SMEs face a unique combination of opportunity and challenge: while AI uptake is accelerating—with 45% of SMEs and 65% of medium-sized firms expected to integrate AI solutions by mid‑2025—many leaders still lack the confidence, skills, or support to implement it effectively.

This is despite strong evidence of AI’s benefits: adopters have reported productivity gains of up to 133%, and the technology could add £78bn to the UK SME economy over the next decade.

Equipping leaders for the AI era
Roy Shelton, CEO of Connectus, said: “AI is no longer the domain of multinationals and tech giants. It has become a foundational capability for future-ready businesses of all sizes. But for many SMEs, the path to adoption remains unclear. Through the Evolve AI workshops, we’re equipping leaders with the clarity, confidence, and community they need to move forward.”

Connectus has deep regional expertise, having supported more than 500 SMEs in Doncaster, Salford, Lincolnshire, and the Midlands. Its services span managed IT, cybersecurity, and connectivity solutions. Recent investments, including a £500,000 fibre infrastructure upgrade at Doncaster Airport Business Park, highlight the company’s commitment to creating the digital foundations necessary for AI readiness.

Interactive, sector‑specific, and practical
The Evolve AI workshops will provide a hands-on environment for SME leaders to:

  • Assess their AI readiness

  • Explore real-world case studies

  • Develop practical adoption strategies

  • Understand how AI can automate processes, support smarter decision-making, and improve customer outcomes without high costs or disruption

Sessions will also cover critical issues such as data protection, compliance, and workforce development—areas that are especially challenging for smaller businesses with limited in-house expertise.

Roy added: “We see this as part of our wider responsibility. By demystifying advanced technologies, we’re helping SMEs unlock sustainable growth through responsible AI integration. Working with Automated Analytics means we can deliver real, lasting change.”

Mark Taylor, CEO of Automated Analytics, added: “This workshop will give attendees the opportunity to see genuine examples of AI in action—not just theoretical ideas, but real case studies where organisations, large and small, have used AI to gain a competitive edge.”
